Avoid Diabetes



These are my top 4 suggestions on how to avoid diabetes.

- Limit or cut out refined sugars/carbs- overtime, eating too much sugars and simple carbs can cause our body to become resistant to insulin (the hormone that helps get glucose (sugar) into our cells for energy).


- Exercise- this increases insulin sensitivity which helps our body to get glucose into our cells


This is especially important for people with sedentary jobs- it's important to find ways to be physically active.

- Lose weight if you are overweight- excess fat in the body causes inflammation and can lead to insulin resistance.

- Avoid empty calories drinks like soda and sweetened beverages. Try and drink more water!
