New Year, New Goals

As we enter into 2017 let's start it off right by setting goals to better ourselves. Whether it be eating healthier, working out more, or improving a health issue, just start working toward your goal with small steps and stay focused! They say it takes 30 days to make a habit stick, so stay with it once you start! Let's start 2017 off with solid, positive goals! Eat well, Live well.

Is Sorghum The New Quinoa?

Sorghum is a hearty grain that is not only a good source of fiber, protein, and vitamins/minerals, but also happens to be gluten free which makes it a great alternative for those with Celiac Disease or gluten sensitivity. Sorghum can used in salads, as an alternative to rice, and it can even be popped as an alternative to popped corn. Pick it up during your next grocery trip! Eat well, live well.

Smaller Plates, Smaller Portions

One trick to easily control your portions is to use a smaller plate/bowl/dishware. This will limit the amount of food you serve yourself. Eat and live well ♡

Remix Your Water

Do you find it difficult to drink adequate water each day? Try these tips: - Add fresh lemon or lime juice to give your water a kick (plus some vitamin C and antioxidants!) - Add sliced cucumber and mint for a refreshing mix - Slice some fresh fruit and allow the water to take on the flavors of the fruit - Make your own iced tea; after all, tea is water with the infused flavors of leaves, herbs, spices, and dried fruit. - Try a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds for an interesting texture and extra fiber (2 tablespoons have about 9 g of fiber and 6 g or protein). Drink up!
